Know Your Rights

Officers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement
ICE officers

We are receiving many calls from frightened people due to the rhetoric they are hearing from President Trump and members of his Cabinet.   Everyone is scared, even those people who have legal status. Rumors are flying around of ICE raids, numerous arrests, and mass deportations. More now than ever, it is essential to know what your rights are. My professional association, the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (“AILA”), has written a “Know Your Rights Flyer.”   I am copying and pasting it below. As I learn of trainings about immigrant rights in San Francisco County or Solano County, I will post them to my blog. I hope you will also contact me if you are giving a workshop and I can advertise it.

The links in the flyer are not clickable. Please get in touch with me if you would like a card explaining your rights that you can carry in your wallet or purse. I will mail you a card. I have cards in English and Spanish. They are known as “red cards.”  You may present them to any Immigration officer if they stop you.
